DOUWE BOB (NL)
Douwe 'Bob' Posthuma was born and raised in Amsterdam. He received his first piano lesson at the age of six and when he was fourteen, he added guitar and singing to his lessons. Douwe learned how to make music from his father, Simon Posthuma, who was part of the artist group 'The Fool' and designed for The Beatles, among others. His mother was active as a dancer.
Classical
At first, Douwe mainly played classical music, but he soon switched to jazz. He then began to focus entirely on a career as a singer-songwriter and started working on his first album. In it, he hoped to be able to present his own country-like style and way of writing. He wanted to be able to make his own music and could not imagine a life without writing his own lyrics.
Reaching as large an audience as possible is the goal that Douwe is trying to achieve. That is why he signed up for the VARA/BNN program The best singer-songwriter in the Netherlands in 2012. In the first round he immediately makes an impression. At the end of the ride he is crowned the winner of the program by presenter Giel and his musical friends.
The debut album Born In A Storm is released in May 2013. He writes three of the thirteen songs on the album himself. For the other tracks, Douwe Bob gets help from producer Matthijs van Duijvenbode (known for his work with Tim Knol) and guitarist JP Hoekstra (Guild Of Stags, Lorrainville, The Sheer, ex-Krezip).
The second single is 'Blind Man's Bluff' and the third single 'You Don't Have To Stay'. Douwe Bob himself says he is inspired by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, among others. However, his music also has something in common with The Beatles. In the summer of 2013, Douwe Bob will be performing at several festivals in the Netherlands, such as Pinkpop.
In January 2015, Douwe Bob will release a single with Anouk, 'Hold Me'. The song becomes a hit and is just a precursor to what is still on the menu: the singles 'Sweet Sunshine' and 'The News' are also huge hits. He also announces that he will represent the Netherlands for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The train never stopped!
