The Fatal Flowers (NL)
After their successful club reunion in 2019, The Fatal Flowers will return in 2026! Fans have been hoping for this for years, and now that wish is coming true. The timing is no coincidence. The shows coincide with the 40th anniversary of their debut album, Younger Days (1986), the album that marked the Amsterdam guitar band's definitive breakthrough.
The sold-out 2019 club tour clearly left them wanting more and underscores the band's enduring status as a standard-bearer of the "Amsterdam Guitar School." Line-up: Richard Janssen (vocals/guitar), Robin Berlijn (guitar), Geert de Groot (bass), and Henk Jonkers (drums).
The Fatal Flowers became a fixture on the Amsterdam guitar scene in the mid-1980s. The group became known for intensive rehearsals, a close-knit style, and a sound that emphasized compact guitars and direct melodies. With 1986's "Younger Days," they established their reputation, followed by 1988's "Johnny D. Is Back," recorded in Woodstock with Mick Ronson. 1990's "Pleasure Ground" was their last official studio album before the band disbanded.
In 2019, they embarked on a one-off reunion tour with the lineup featuring Richard Janssen, Robin Berlijn, Henk Jonkers, and Geert de Groot. The shows filled venues and were received as a reassessment of their role within the Dutch guitar tradition. Festival appearances didn't materialize, something Janssen always felt was a shame. That wish has now been fulfilled, and Ribs & Blues is now a must-see!
